    Hello

    I have a domain:

    site.com

which has excellent ranking in Search engines.

    If I add

    blah.site.com

Does the main site has any affect on it or do search engines see the sub domain as a completely new site?

I think site.com/blah will do better than blah.site.com if your site has good rankings.

If site.com have good PR and blah.site.com contains links from main site, you might get a better rank. It might give a positive effect to main sites PR if the sub-domains get indexed.

If you make a subdomain out of that, the new subdomain will gian no advantage from the main domain to start with. If you start linking the two, then it will help...provided you don't spam the links from only your site...This is because a new subdomain is also treated as any other new site by Google.

If you make it a subdirectory, then it will come under the main site. That means every new content added will be a part of the main site. This way gradually it will benefit both the main site and the subdirectory...though to increase page rank, you will still need to perform linkings here also...

i have done experiment, the top domain will rank highest, follow by directory or webpage of the domain, then follow by subdomain of the domain

google treats subdomains as entirely separate from the main domain. while subfolders are children of a main domain.

which do you think google is going to trust more?

Why do you think blogger gives you a subdomain instead of a subfolder?
