Hi there - New here so hope this is the correct place:

As google says, subdomains should have stopped assisting SEO.

But, for my own personal expiriance they still do a great job for many of my sites - So what is the correct answer?

I might emphsis that i only use LEGAL & LOGICAL subdomain and not SPAM one's (i.e. DOMAIN.ahoy.co.il for domain selling ext.).

Google treats a subdomain as a separate domain. So a link from a subdomain will carry the same weight as if the content on the subdomain were on it's own domain. All other things being equal of course.

If you're using subdomain consider to separate out content which should be relevant but completely different from your main site. However in some case you may even notice the subdomain rank higher than the main website especially if you set-up a blog with it.
