Subdomains linking to main domain - will this boost PR?

Hi, I've created a lot of subdomains, which all link back to the main domain. Will this help boost the main domain's PR?

(I've heard that google recognizes subdomains as individual sites. Is this true?)

Probably not, because they're all on the same IP.

Yes, it does recognise them as individual sites

and contrary to the above comment, if the other sub-domains have pr, then they can indeed pass it on

Here is a good article if you want more information

Are you linking to your sub-domains from your main site? I also need a clarification on this. Since reciprocal links are not so *valuable* as non-reciprocal ones, would linking sub-domains together be the same as linking sites together? I think it wouldn't be much beneficial.
