subdomains as a new site?

    Nobody should know outside the search spiders. Meaning you should have a separate domain and load them as an "add-on domain" to your main hosting account domain. Heck you don't even need to use the main hosting account domain and can just let it expire.

    I think the answer is not so straightforward as yes or no. I suspect the following:

    If there is no linking from the main domain to the subdomain (eg with blogspot) the subdomain is treated as a different site

    But if there is interlinking from the main domain to the subdomain then it seems to be treated more like a subdirectory.
