Hey, I wonder what would be best: http://www.mysite.com/nl/directory/ OR http://nl.mysite.com/directory/ The second option leaves out the root directory in the URL, so all other directories will move up one position and the structure becomes less deep. I would say that this is best, but perhaps Google understands the first technique, so that it doesn't matter which one you use SEO wise. Your thoughts? Giorgio
I don't think the impact is visible.. I would just go for the first one but go ahead with what you want
sub-domains are considered completely separate domains from the primary domain. If you think about it, www. is a subdomain just like anything else, such as example.domain.com. if you want to hold the trust and pagerank of the primary domain, use a sub-directory like domain.com/example
subdomains are new domains in the eye of the search engines. if you want to rank quickly you must use the first option
If you want to have different themed websites, and you think that adding so much content on the primary domain will be too much, only then go for sub-domains. In every other case, a sub-directory is the best option.
sounds like some ones going on a free webhost, not a good idea if you want to develop and sell, primarly because the host could just take the site off you.
