    Hi all,
Just finished working at a classified adds website and I am about to start promoting it.
My problem is that my domain name has no relevance for the search engines (I was hopeing to become a brand like the gumtree or craigslist). So now I am thinking to create a subdomain called classifieds.website.com and 301 redirect it to website.com.
What will the search engines and the directories think about this? As I said it is a brand new website and I have no trafic or PR on it. Also when typing www.website.com in the browser I was always taken to website.com/city rather then website/country. Ive redirected the website.com straight to website/country. Will this be a problem from the SEO point of view?
Excuse me for being ignorant but I am new to all this and try to learn as I go.
    Thank you!

I think you'd be better off to redirect from website.com to classifieds.website.com. That way the word classifieds is seen by the bots.
