Subdomain Questions

My site is www.amritaworld.com, I created a subdomain there from cpanel. http://photos.amritaworld.com, it created a folder "photos" in the www folder automatically.
when i access http://photos.amritaworld.com, it opens up, but the same thing also comes up when I use www.amritaworld.com/photos, can I prevent this from happening?
Also can I host the subdomained-site at some other hosting company?

First question is why do u want to host sub domain from another company?
and i think its possible that www.forums.digitalpoint.com can be stopped when opened from www.digitalpoint.com/forums.

 

i was askin if its possible...
coz my current host has limited space/bw and for the subdomain i may need more space/bw..anyways thts not that important...

i just want to prevent the site opening from here: www.amritaworld.com/photos

No, I don't believe you can stop that...but all domains have that feature. The subdomain basically just takes the user to the folder. Same with the /photos.

 

Of course you can ...

I do not know the "REAL" way to do it, but what you can do is just make the index file (eg. index.php) to redirect to (http://photos.amritaworld.com/index2.php)

from what i understand, u meant, rename the current index.php to index2.php and create a new index.php which will redirect to index2.php?
now how do i redirect..will that have any negative effect on SEO etc...?
like when we go to www.digitalpoint.com/forums, i get a message

even getting this message in my case would be enough for me
