Subdomain of an established site or my own domain?

    Hey :)

I have designed a simple, but useful program for a game, now I have 2 choices:

    - Do I use a subdomain I have been offered of an established fansite for that game.

    Or

    - Do I use my own domain and get established myself.

    Note:

It is a small program so I am not trying to make a community out of it, Im just going to have it on the subdomain or domain free, but adverts on the actual site.

The main query is which is better for searches etc?

    Thank you very much, Ash.

i am not getting what do you thinking are you willing to sell you program online or just want to establish a site for gaming if you are willing to sell that program i suggets you to go on ebay or if you are looking to establish a site you may either buy a domain or a free domain like co.cc or .tk but avoid long subdomains like yourdomain.theirdomain.extralongdomain.com

Well... its a free program, and its a short domain, just the free program is going to be quite popular and im probably going to use something like zango or CPALead to earn money off the downloads, just querying whether site.#####.net is better than site.net, in terms of SEO, when #####.net is very popular.
