Subdomain for blog?

    Hello,
    Just wondering if there are any disadvantages to using a subdomain as a blog for example blog1.site.com or blog2.site.com?

    I have registered a hostname, but wanted to allow a few mates to also do blogs so thought it would be better to use subdomains.

    Go for it. I use subdomains for lots of things and have never had a problem. Search engines treat them as totally separate sites.

    But few dont allow but all major free directories will listed it nicely...

    If you are making an all in one portal, of which the blog is just a small component, you can use the subdomain idea.

    If you plan to do everything with your blog alone, put it up on a separate domain.

    you are letting your mates to blog on your sub domains? Go for it!
    you will get so many advantages from them. their visitors must visit the main domain also. and imw search engine will give more credit on the main domain.
