I sadly need some information related to sub-domains and seo, I guess it isn't possible for us to know everything! :D Reputation to whoever can answer my questions successfully and resource and proven data is always great!

    1. Should sub-domains (subdomain.domain.com) have their own sitemap and robots.txt file?

    2. Can you track sub-domain information in google webmasters central seperately? Basicly can you act like its a seperate site, I was able to add and verify it.

    3. Are sub-domains treated as basicly seperate from their parent domain?

1.) I'm really not sure since this is not something I normally deal with; however, if the subdomain was being used to host a separate "site" that was part of the main site (like money.cnn.com for example) I probably would. Just bear in mind that I'd probably axe the sitemap.xml file and use a sitemap PAGE instead, linking it to the each page in the subdomain "site" instead - to give not only search engines a map to crawl, but to also give people an alternate means of navigating through the "site" as well (not everyone uses the main menu to navigate - some will use the search box while others use the sitemap if available).

2.) No clue. It is something I would like to know though.

3.) Yes, they are considered separate domains by search engines.
