I am thinking of redoing all of my websites. Both the design and concept. I am doing a directory of sorts but with many many sites. Each site a directory of it's own. sorta like a link directory. One site for each type of directory. The type of directories they are it would make sense to have them all on a sub domain and would be much cheaper as I may have up to 100 or more of these sites. I'm really worried about my SEO however. I don't want it to effect my chances of being seen in search engines. What would you all recommend? Put each site on it's own domain or have sub domains? Here are a few examples. cardirectory.com, golfdirectory.com, etc,. Or car.directory.com, golf.directory.com, etc,. So in regards to SEO which is better? Will it hurt me? And lastly in regards to what might me overall better in more ways than just SEO which would you recommend? Thanks in advance!
If you are developing the directory website, you can define the different categories. Some sites also define the subdomains for different categories but it remains difficult for subdomains to track the visitors where you need to define analytics for each subdomains and manage. If you are creating the directories for link directory..Try to avoid as Google is taking strict actions against such link networks and your directory listing will drop and people also avoid the links from such directories now days.
