Sub-directory of the site or .info?

I'm just starting off with my affiliate marketing and would like to promote a couple different products at once. I ended up buying a great .com domain for one of the products, but due to a family emergency that came up, I'm a bit strapped for cash, so I can't really afford a .com domain right now. I have a web site that is somewhat relevant to the product I am going to promote, except it's a blog and I'd like to keep at least part of it that way. So I was wondering if it was at all a decent idea to simply put my landing page on a sub-directory of the site? Or would I do better purchasing a .info domain and putting my landing page on the front page of that?

Try subdirectory first and see how it goes. If it's alright, then keep it.

When you get some cash, try .info and test it.

Just put it in a sub directory, see how things go and if it makes you some money you can buy a domain name when you're ready.

Use a sub-domain instead of a sub-directory if you're using a hosting package that gives you free ones.

Like 'xproduct.domain.com' looks better than 'domain.com/xproduct/' IMO. I bought a generic domain name and all my affiliate sites will be using sub-domains; by generic I mean like 'xproduct.this-is-great.com' (that's not my actual domain).
