I know Alexa doesn't mean much, but lookie... digitalpoint.com broke into the sub-1,000 (3 month average)... http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details?url=digitalpoint.com Comparing similar sites: Again, I should point out that Alexa doesn't mean anything at all... it's very generalized. The traffic primarily is coming from the tools (the initial jump was the day the keyword tracker was released).
Awesome work buddy! I am one of the few who does respect what Alexa does (a little ). LOOK OUT WMW...... PS: Don't sell yourself short. You are an inspiration to many of us!
I should also point out, that I don't personally use Alexa or have the toolbar installed (I'm a Mac user).
Alexa is a very interesting company, Amazon bought them for a reason, they are a search engine in addition to A9.com. I would not discount them as much as some folks do. The Alexa toolbar is considered spyware by many spyware scanners, but the toolbar is really useful when looking for related links to a specific website. The funny thing about the Alexa toolbar is that it acts like a mini spider following and indexing pages that the toolbar user visits. Alexa does their own crawling and has a way back machine that archives old web pages in addition to current pages. A9.com will break away from Google results in the end, they are a company to watch (Amazon).
That is one of the things that makes this a mile stone. I doubt if many of the forum users have toolbar installed. Shannon
I've entered the sub 50,000 domain. I should be in the the sub 25,000 in a month or two if things keep up. The lower you get, the more accurate things become (although never perfect).
One thing I noticed in the climb, is that getting to about 2,500 is easy, but getting to 1,000 is not so quick (even with the traffic steadily increasing). The graph link changes angle (for me at least) at 2,500 (traffic increased at the sam rate as before). So I guess the sites that are sub-2,500 have larger gaps between them.
I think is it a good indicator on high volume sites, low volume sites, not so good. Many advertisers will look at the Alexa ranking as a point of reference, so good job Shawn. You are in the big time, the numbers do not lie, nor the marketplace.
right, MOST probably don't. but the percent of people coming to the forums (and using the online tools) that have the toolbar installed is going to be much, much, much higher than general internet surfers.
I used to use it non stop, so more folks use it than you would think, I did not like the Google toolbar since it seemed to slow my box down, so I removed it the same day I installed it. I really did like the Alexa bar a hell of a lot, the only downside is that webmasters have found a way to raise their Alexa ranking by going to their websites themselves. I know when I was using it, my rankings were much higher just from going to my own sites.
