Stupid Traffic Question: Hits, Visits, Pages?

Im reading my traffic report and this is what it says:

Visits: 68
Pages: 899
Hits: 24330

What exactly do these mean. Im assuming visits are unique hits, pages are page views, but im not sure what hits are.

Visits - the number of individual visits. This number may include repeat visits by the same people.

Pages - the number of pages that were viewed

Hits - every time a page or an image, or other item loads it is counted as a hit
