Stupid script kiddies spoiled my Google listing

One of my sites was "hacked" this week, partly my own fault really for not CHMODing my config file low enough, but now my listing has one of those "this site may harm your computer" tags attached so you can't get through to it via Google searches because of what they put on there.

I got rid of the nasty stuff they put on so I guess I just have to wait for Google to see it's gone, at least I hope so?

    How did they hack it?

Can a 777 file be modified from an external server or something?

hmm. Chmod to read only. and try to NOT let the config file to 777 again because everyone can read it and "hack" your database with the info in the config file.

Are you using shared hosting, a VPS, or a dedicated server?

755 normally works well enough, but one of my sites got hacked a while back, where they had FTP access! I only found out by the use of the server logs - amazing, as it was a good password, but I have learned to use strong passwords now!

I'm not too fussed about the cracking, it was just that iframe redirect crap to here: cdpuvbhfzz.com, it's an inconvenience in itself to fix it but the "this site may harm your computer" tag on Google is more of a problem to be honest, I never had anything like that happen before.
