How good will be to set up a website to sekll handcrafted cards and other handcraft related products? Do you guys think this may have a good demand?
Yes, always a demand for well made cards at affordable prices , prompt service goes a long way too, all the best with your project
i think it depends how much the price varies from smilar products. maybe try to sell some on ebay or craigs list to kinda get an idea of demand.
what will be afordable price? Hand made stuff are not cheap.. and we live in central america so shipment is something to take care.....
Ive seen these sell in places now quite regulary. If you market it well, it should go well and you make good profit. Would you create the designs yourself, or would get you staff to do so?
Well... at this point the business is owned by my aunt. she made the desings and handcraft everything... I just helped a couple of times whit big orders... I have been involved in designs... and she is hiring some guys to help with the handcraft.. (not sure if that answer your question) I just had a feeling that thru the internet this may become a big business; but i'm not sure if there's a market for it.
Well, I do think it is a great idea especially if you are offering something unique. The online thing may take a while to pick up but it would indeed be a great opportunity. Does your aunt currently offer the handicraft for sale locally especially to the incoming tourists ? If so, putting the website URL in the namecards, promotional leaflets and in the store will indeed help. Sometimes tourists come and visit the stores and they may not buy stuffs right away, some may do so and once they get to know what you have to offer, they may be comfortable to browse your online catalog and buy them off the web store. Just ensure that the buying experience is pleasant and that the items are shipped securely to prevent damages. I am sure that the more unique the design, especially if it is one-of-a-kind, people would inevitably be willing to pay handsomely for them. Yes, there is definitely a market for those. Of course, like any kind of arts, it may not appeal to the masses but to the select group of collectors.
first of all, there's no such thing as a stupid question (unless it's about infractions, which isn't a question anyway). second, to strictly answer your question, yes there is certainly demand for handicrafts. what you'd want to do is to brainstorm a bunch of keywords relating to handicraft (i haven't looked at numbers, but i'm guessing that 'handicraft' is a little too broad). find a narrower keyword, but broad enough to have the numbers. you are right in that thru the net it can become a big business. but you first need to zero in on a niche.
