It is a question of following the Wiki external linking rules - it specifically allows linking to directories and open directories are specifically preferred. Ivan's is a private site not an open directory, and therefore not covered by that. I didn't say that the DMOZ links in Wiki are acceptable to me - I said they were acceptable to Wikipedia. And as such DMOZ can legitimately exploit that. I also said that in my opinion linking a DMOZ category to a Wiki article would only be right where the DMOZ category is up to scratch, i.e. it should not be automatic and should be based on the worth of the DMOZ category. Sometimes there are better and more comprehensive directories that would be more suitable. I'm sure many have thought about it. But it isn't as easy to remove an editall as to remove a regular editor (e.g. Metas can't remove editalls). I'm sure it would be cited as a reason for refusing reinstatement though. It is a convenient vague catch-all that I am sure can be very useful but I doubt that many have gone that way without a second charge. I'm not saying your removal was right or wrong Ivan, I can't see the notes and the debate in the private Meta forum that preceded it. All I am saying is that I've seen enough ODPSS victims to be able to recognise a new variant on the theme. It was a classic pattern IMO. It is not necessarily your fault, the DMOZ culture takes some getting used to and I doubt there are many editors who haven't been slapped around, or at least victim of a sarcastic put-down, at some point. In your opinion, clearly not in the opinion of others who had the power to remove you. There again, give me a couple of hours and I'll name you 50 things where DMOZ does not appear to act in its own best interests.
I had added only 450+ links, you added 10000+ and since we know that "corrupt" editors only list there own websites you were much worse case.
