Stupid Newb Question! What does it mean to sponsor a WP Theme?

Hi,

I think the title says it all!

Does it mean that you are paying for a link (e.g. blog roll link) on a WP template before it gets submitted to the various theme download sites?

And is that to benefit your site in terms of traffic, PR, or both?

To answer your question, person A makes a theme and will distribute it. Person or company B pays person A and person A sticks a link in the theme so when distributed, person or company B gets a lot of links.

This is a commen thing to do... some ppl pay designers to make cms themes..
