This is probably a dumb question, but here goes. When I comment on a blog, where do I want my link to be? Should I list my site URL in the "website" box and put my anchor text in the "name box", or should I just throw an entire html tad in the "comment" box? Thanks for any clarification.
Most blogs will look at your post before they approve it. So you probably want your post to look nice and not SPAM like. Towards the end of the post in the body would probably be the least intrusive.
URL in the "website" box is good, I never approve any comment that url in the "comment" box. i think someone as me.
Name Box = your anchor text or keyword Email Box = Email you want to use URL/Website Box = The link you want to place That's all.
Have a look at the other comments that have already been posted and see what they did. If they have the URL in the body then do the same. Every blog and site owner has their own likes and dis-likes so follow the rest and you should be fine.
Blog comments aren't made to increase your websites' rankings. Remember that they made the comment function with the 'name' to put your username. Why would Google ever want to rank a website posted in a comment on the username it's on? That's why I guess blog comments don't help a lot. This might've worked in the past though, but unfortunately Google is probably giving not much weight on the blog comments links Just my 2 cents. The answer has posted above already, but I just wanted to make this comment. Hope it learned you guys/girls something. - Aquarezz
This bring up a good point, do you thing that Google give less weight to links in the user-name section of a blog comment than it does to links in the actual comment box? Also, so you think their is any seo benefit to having your link in both places assuming the anchor-text is the same? Thanks for your insight.
I have plenty of dofollow and nofollow links that show up within my Webmaster tools, so I am assuming they have some value. What that value is, remains to be seen, but it takes just a few minutes to post a few thoughtful content and get some back-links. I guess what I am saying it that it can't hurt.
The value of blog commenting becaome less - that's right, but we still can do that. My personal experience is enter your keywords in the name box but don't make it look like spam.
I agree. It looks better if you keep your link and you anchor text confined to the "name" that appears on your post. Also, I think it lessens the chance of your post being removed due to spam.
sometimes in your name feild you can put your website but this runs the risk of not getting your comment approved you can also add your site in your comment after your name
some blogs don't allow html code within the comment box... and it is safe to place your anchor text and url under the user section..
If you Link a good Comment to a Related Blog Post or Website it Would be Much more Help. I don't Care about Shoes when I am Reading about Html like Many Blog Comments I have seen Before
I use my name with my keywords. Not the best for link building but at least the keywords are there with my name so it looks less spammy.
