Stumbleupon traffic: Okay for adsense?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by the phil, Jul 17, 2007.

One of my websites' traffic is predominantly from stumbleupon. Would any problems arise from adding adsense to this site?

From what I understand, myspace-heavy traffic is looked down upon by Google, but I'm not sure about stumbleupon traffic.

    Thanks!

I'd still double check with Google if you can. If you're getting 50 uniques a day and suddenly receive 1000+ visitors in an hour because someone stumbled your site, Google might look into it. You'd most probably receive a very generic response, but at least it'd be your proof to Google that you asked beforehand (incase something happened to your account).

ya, its all good, but most people report that bookmark sites dont convert well, so you may want to work on the seo traffic a little.

Ponynugget: The site currently has no ads on it.

Related question: Would google think it's odd to add ads to a site which already receives a good amount of traffic? The site has never had ads (of any flavor) on it before.

Absolutely not. So long as all the traffic is genuine, it's fine. :)

I'll report back with my findings, but I don't have a control for this. This site hasn't had ads before, and it's primary source of traffic is stumbleupon. As traffic becomes more organic, however, I will attempt to differentiate between the stumbleupon traffic and organic traffic, likely through the use of different channels, selected server-side based on referrer URL.

It will take some time before organic traffic is enough to be of statistical relevance, however.
