StumbleUpon SUDDEN Traffic Surge

I like stumbleupon traffic because if what your posting truly is good then it will build upon itself exponentially.

 

If you're talking about my sudden traffic then you're wrong. It's so easy to get traffic just it won't be targeted whatsoever.

 

I have had a lot of success with SU. Keep a couple of things in mind:

1. Put your page in the correct category! I can't tell you how many times I've seen pages selling widgets in a category such as "Video Games" because someone believes it will get more page views. People looking for video game sites don't want your widgets, won't click on your ads and they'll thumb you down and possibly report you for spam.

2. Use it for link bait. I've stumbled a site and within an hour I've received traffic from other sites who put up a link. This is on a site that had no other promotion other than SU.

Don't be so short-sighted. If you just concentrate on how many clicks you're getting on Adsense or whatever then you'll miss out on great opportunities to promote your sites.

 

once i got arround 5000 unique visitors in 4 days from stumble upon only (for one of my blog)

but did not get even a single click on ads... but offcourse this helped me in getting good alexa ranking.

along with your articles you need to stumble other articles tooo....and your content should be great..simple!

 

POPUPS - doesn't matter if they leave, they got the popup, you got the money.

not if its on leaving the site, unless they actually want to spend the time pushing back in the browser and changing their stance on the site.

Also I have had in one day over 20k on certain articles from SU - that day alone due to CPM marketing I made over 400 bucks, NOW that hasn't happened since but yesterday got a surge of 1k hits just from SU alone. Its worth if you ask me. For as little as I do.

No traffic is useless, you might just have to write more articles and stumble them too. Depending on how you monetize your site, if you have an eye catching logo or your article is interesting, the traffic will convert.

 

Think about the people that stumble... think about the phrase "stop traffic" the pretty girl walking down the sidewalk that stops traffic. For stumble traffic to be good, you have to offer that girl, or they will move on to the next site. The nature of stumble upon is to move on and not to stop at what you find, unless, your site is that traffic stopping pretty girl. Capisce?

 

I agree it's poor quality in post cases, but you can make it a numbers game.

 

see if you stumble ONLY your articles then the SU algo will cum to know that you are using SU only to generate traffic for you..

you need to give something (votes) in order to earn something (votes)

I believe what he means is that for StumbleUpon to realize your Stumbles as legit, you need to actively use SU. I believe the minimum rate is at least 9 stumbles [preferably with reviews] in between Stumbling your own sites. The longer you don't Stumble your sites, the more effective your Stumbles of your site will be.

 

I wouldn't recommend doing poups on your site if you are targeting SU. Users can report it for being too spammy and then your site won't last much longer.

 

I have free websites with different content to my main website but with links to my main website and to my other free websites so it's all interlinked.

By stumbling my free websites will it notice it as stumbling a site related to my main one?

You put a story out there and then people find your story interesting enough that they tell their friends about the site and then link traffic to your site.

It's a form of viral marketing but you need to find something that would interest a blogger or website enough to link you.

Can work wonders if you get it right.

 

Exactly. If you stumble the right story/video/funny picture/etc. at the right time and the right people happen to see it then you will get backlinks. You may even get dugg. It takes a bit of luck, but it can be worth it.

 

Given a choice between no traffic and some traffic, I will pick SU traffic every time.
