The past three days I have gotten over 30 stumbles and only about 5 visitors from StumbleUpon. Is that normal? What could I possibly be doing wrong?
you should be happy, trust me i get alot every day and all it dose is rise my ad impressions and lowers my CTR %
Just keep stumbling others and get your friends maxed to 200...but make sure they are friends that follow your stumbles. I have about 300-500 that follow my every stumble.
Has your site been stumbled before? I've gotten a lot of traffic from them over the months, but the biggest burst was the first time my site was stumbled. Also, if you're being stumbled by people who aren't connected in the SU scene, their votes don't mean as much as people who are well-connected and have a lot of people watching their stumbles.
stumble upon works when you have a strong stumble profile, or someone who has a strong stumble upon profile stumbles your sites! anyone with arround 300 stumble friends if stumbles your site then you can expect some huge traffic! I was getting some traffic from stumble upon, it's not regular, but on some days i get 400+ hits. this kind of traffic dosenot buy anything from your site or don't even click! but yes, they are real visitors, and am happy with them! Though just 30 stumbles won't help you, you need more, keep the stumble going and you will start getting traffic!
Did you stumble your site first? Sometimes when I have done that my results are not too good. I have seen results with stumble numbers much lower than 30. Just be patient and keep doing exchanges.
I get a lot of traffic from stumble, I really love stumble. I.e. 2 days ago i got 10.000 uniques to a post of mine from 40 stumbles, some of which from power users. Those users didn't convert well in clicks but a lot of them converted in subscribers and returning visitors. It's free traffic ffs, it can't possibly hurt, only help.
Is there a website i can go to understand more about SU? i get a few hits from there every now and then. I click the referrer and it says 'your site has 6 reviews' whatever that means. So i register. I still can't figure out what the heck to do there. It isn't very friendly to new users.
I think the real secret to stumbleupon (beyond taking advantage of the Freebies forum here in DP - which I have no motivation to do) is to do a lot of networking on SU...get to know people, especially big stumblers...once again, all stuff I don't have time for and I would rather focus on my google SERPs instead....SERP visitors mean much more to me than random people who are bored at work or between college classes.
