I only earn from Adsense through CPC and not CPM so it shouldn't really affect me anyway. Also, how can you stop getting traffic from them. You can get lots of traffic from them without you even adding your own site or noing about it. Other people like your site so they then add it for you. Now I can't see you getting banned for that. Also the traffic is not so bad if you are getting the traffic to a entertainment type of site.
How do you know if you are in trouble with Google or have been banned? I've seen many posts referring to this happening and am wondering how you find out.
They may send you out an email if they notice some suspicous occurances happening to your account or if you are banned then the ads will not appear on your site anymore and you will not be able to login to your account.
No, you won't get in trouble with Adsense for including your links in SU. I wanted to suggest it to a promotion test group I'm running for some of the Suite101 writers, and since the network uses Adsense I obviously didn't want them getting banned over something stupid. So I contacted Adsense and they said there's no problem as long as you're properly targeting the traffic (ie putting the pages in valid categories to attract the most targeted traffic possible). Here's what they said: "If I understand you correctly, you are wondering whether it would be in compliance with our Terms and Conditions for Suite101.com's authors to add their articles to the index of StumbleUpon.com. If so, then yes, we do allow this. The intent of the Terms and Conditions is to ensure that the visitors to Suite101.com's content are authentic users legitimately interested in the content it provides. Provided the traffic you encourage your authors to attract on such sites is of this type, you are operating within our policies." Jenn
i'm curious. Does this really still work, or has this stopped working since everybody knows about it? I'm getting zilch traffic.
It still works and very well too. I have no idea how well they convert but the visitors referred by SU are definitely good - if you've got quality content to keep them entertained.
