One is all you can give - one account, one vote However, you can vote on each page in your site. That is not a great idea, but you can. Seems a bit spammy if you do.
I did some paid advertising there and now it seems I'm getting more hits even though my ad $ ran out. I think once the ads forced some people to view my site they added it as a favorite and now it's starting to spread virally without me having to pay.
I signed up and gave a thumbs-up to one of my fun sites and one of my information sites. I got a lot more hits to my fun site. The burst lasted a couple of hours and there were no ad clicks. However, subscriptions to the feeds on both sites increased as a result of the traffic. I will monitor to see if this is a permanent increase in subscriptions. Here are my takeaways: 1. This audience is more interested in cool/fun/immediate content 2. The benefit of a burst of traffic from StumbleUpon.com does not come from ad clicks. It comes from your ability to impress viewers into giving you a thumbs up and positive review and from converting a percentage of them into subscribers and repeat readers. 3. The quality of your site/content determines your ability to convert people. If you have the right content, this seems like a great way to get it in front of viewers that are curious even if they are not targeted. I can't imagine that it would be good for commercial or sales sites, but I'd be interested in hearing if someone has a different experience.
Like most social bookmarking sites it might take you a while to build up a reputation, be careful not to be spammy. You can also join various groups so you can stumble around with folks that have the same interests as you.
StumbleUpon is not like any other social bookmarking out there and I subscribe to a list of them. To give you a complete overview of its benefits, go to: http://www.stumbleupon.com/benefits.html x
