Stumbleupon - Backlinks or Just Traffic?

Does anyone recieve any backlinks from Stumbleupon or is it only good for traffic?

I joined a couple of months ago and - whilst it's fun to use - have not seen any backlinks show up. Is it one of these sites where you have to have a certain number of votes to get a backlink or is it nofollow?

    Would appreciate any answers.

StumbleUpon is NoFollow so it won't help for SERP one bit. It's good for traffic though ;)
In my experience the traffic won't convert very well so keep that in mind before spending too much time on SU.

Non-Ad clicking traffic and generally no backlinks, as people zoom past your site.

Unless your site is really amusing (ie, people will comment "LOL" and click I like this) or has cute pictures they'll probably click stumble again in a second or two. Tough crowd to get anything from :)

I have done alright with stumbleupon. I get about 25,000 viistors a day about 40,000 page views just from stumble upon, I even was able to get a link exchange from another jokesite that has pr of 3 also alot of back links from other joke forums so it has helped me alot.

Really. Thats kind of a definitive statement don't you think. Kind of makes the assumption that all SERP is the same.

Is it Ok to stumbleupon one's own website? They wouldn't ban you for that would they?

I have had days where Stumble brought me 1500 hits and other days where it brought me 3. One thing it did have in common was the traffic had a CTR of 0.02% which is terrible. To answer your other question StumbleUpon is nofollow so no link juice is passed. I think StumbleUpon is something you should do but I wouldn't focus much time at all on it.

Surely any publicity to your website from visitors interested in your content can't be bad can it? People might link to your pages from forums or from there own sites, even though the traffic is fleeting, it's better to have that than no one coming to your site.

I have a question though, I have had some trouble submitting some articles to stumble, some work, some don't. I submit the article go through the procedure and it just comes up with www.stumbleupon/submit at the end with a blank page?

Also does any one know how you can make sure a image is used when submitting an article, these get a much better response.

    Thanks for any help.

I have found the only way to really generate fans for your website is to have a lot of real passion for what you're doing and your site. The more energy you put in to making quality content the better your results will be in the end. I notice that some people install a script, cut and paste some stuff to call content and wonder why they don't make money and users spend only a few seconds on the site. I wouldn't worry about digg / stumble upon or any of the other major traffic hubs until you're sure you have a quality product that users will like. Then those traffic hubs become a valuable resource for site building.

Many thanks all. I've created a few Stumbles for passing traffic but won't spend any further time on it.

Extra traffic is one thing, nofollow links are another. Have in mind, that the more visitors visit our site, there's a higher probability of someone liking the page and linking to it somewhere on forums perhaps). That's a very small percentage, but still it's worth that one click.

True, even with a nofollow you'll get link juice but since stumble is that famous google sure has it's own rules for that due to it's popularity and the possibillity to add backlinks to any individual.

So in my opinion only good traffic to your site.
