The solution to immigration is simple: seal the borders, enforce the law, and stop rewarding illegals for coming here. Don't let them go to school, get a job, or function in American society. If you do that, they will go home all on their own, because there is no place for them here. A lot of people who support immigration ask: how can we send home the millions of illegals? We can't put them in a bus and send them all. In reality, you don't have to. All you have to do is make it impossible for them to function in American society. If a company gets caught with them, the government can fine them millions of dollars. When enough companies have been fined huge penalties for hiring illegals, it will no longer be productive for them to use the labor of these people, and the illegals will quickly find themselves without a job. Once XYZ corporations gets hit with a $10 million dollar fine because of hiring illegals, other companies will become to scared to hire them anymore. The menial jobs that illegals currently do, jobs that "Americans won't" do, will suddenly go back to Americans. Because companies will no longer be able to hire illegals anymore, they will have to higher Americans, and guess what? The hourly wages for these jobs will increase, because Americans won't work for $5 per hour. The companies will have no choice but to give in to market demands. Then the government starts blocking the illegals from going to school. Banks can be prohibited from allowing them to open accounts. All you have to do is put enough pressure on the illegals of the U.S., and just as they came into the country, they will leave by themselves, because they won't have an incentive to stay. This is another area where Ron Paul is on the mark, as usual. Bringing a third world population in the U.S. turns it into a third world.........right now, illegals have an incentive to stay, a social incentive. The government basically encourages them to come. By reducing these incentives, the illegals will find it more productive to return to their country of origin. The illegal immigration problem is simple to solve............
rent is actually going down in miami because of all the over building, not sure if that is true of other areas
Illogical, unrealistic, detrimental to American society, business and spirit. Why do you think the Republicans just got shot down in court by their very own staunch historical allies to block the mandate on "no match" social security numbers? AFL-CIO, NRA, other traditional staunch conservative republican based industries for THE FIRST TIME? Why do you think for the first time EVER the AFL-CIO joined forces with the American Civil Liberties Union? Follow the money.
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2002440179_gasmilk14.html But there's no inflation
LOL, I find this hard to believe. The only thing that is detrimental to American society is letting them stay, and keep coming. These people are criminals. If they didn't follow the normal immigration channels to enter the country legally, what makes you think they are going to follow other laws? Is it fair that people have to wait months and sometimes years to enter this country legally, and then you have these people sneaking past the border? Does that sounds fair? Should we reward people like this? These are the same people, many of them Mexicans, who wave the Mexican flag while they're in the U.S. A guy in Reno just made headlines by cutting down a Mexican flag that was hanging ABOVE a U.S. flag. Wow, this shows how much respect illegals have for America, they hang the Mexican flag above the U.S. one, and these are the people you think should come here. The government agrees with you, I mean, they don't enforce immigration, but both political parties will use the illegals as pawn to destroy this country. It is the merger of Mexico, the U.S., and Canada, also known as the North American Union or Security and Prosperity Partnership of America. You'd better understand that these people hate America. They come here for the goodies, but at the end of the day, they are loyal to the countries from which they came. You support the companies that hire these people, instead of Americans? Americans will pick tomatoes if you pay them $12 per hour, because know one can survive in our inflated economy on $5 per hour. We even have new diseases popping up in the U.S. because we have people entering the country who aren't checked for ailments.
Umm... correct me if I'm wrong, but the AFL-CIO has always been a liberal/democrat/socialist/nationalist/communist organization. They have never been conservative or Republican.
That's not inflation, that's Milk Price Subsidies. Yes, it's your tax dollars being spent to make sure that food prices are artificially high.
Tesla and Dr. Ron Paul are correct about inflation. Inflation is obviously very high right now (except for real estate and computers) The price of gold recently hit ~28 year highs, surely you might have heard? Crude oil is at record highs Food is soaring in cost Sporting events and entertainment are all very expensive The medical sector has huge amounts of inflation The middle class really is getting squeezed into raw poverty, as their numbers dwindle. "I urge my colleagues to strike at the root of the problem and address the Federal Reserve's inflationary monetary policy." -Dr. Ron Paul
The Fed had a prominent role in the Great Depression. It was not a free market in 1929. You cannot have a free market if you have a central bank. Exactly, and like my stance on the government not being able to legislate morality, we also cannot reasonably expect the Fed to legislate market value. It's shown that it is absolutely terrible at doing so.
Actually subsidies lower prices. Market regulation raises prices. That's why it's too expensive to consider alternative energy options. There are no subsidies to match the subsidies given to the automakers and oil companies. The industry is regulated in a protectionist manner.
Please note: * Your graph is almost two years old. * Tesla pointed out things which are not included in the index. What do you trust more as an indicator of inflation? Stats produced by the Gov't, or... ...28 year highs in the price of gold?
Actually, it's from the FY2008 budget. The price of gold is a result of many factors. We're talking about inflation. I trust the price of gold to reflect the price of gold and I trust the rate of inflation to reflect the rate of inflation. I don't trust the weather to reflect the price of tea in China.
You are right, Mr. Spenser. Either I mis-heard or misunderstood the program I heard today. I'll contact them and see if they can clarify. Thanks for correcting me.
Actually, the price is regulated. That means I was correct. Regulation raises prices. By the very definition of the word, a subsidy reduces costs, making a good cheaper to produce.
guerilla: Heck, I'm just happy you opened the PDF this time. Price subsidies subsidize the price, not the good. The government sees this as a benefit to the public. No, I can't explain that. It's beyond rational explanation.
That's incorrect Will. Market regulation sets the price or adds overhead. Subsidies lower the cost of producing.
