Students On Photo Op Urge Bush To Stop Torture

WASHINGTON - President Bush was presented with a letter Monday signed by 50 high school seniors in the Presidential Scholars program urging a halt to "violations of the human rights" of terror suspects held by the United States.

The White House said Bush had not expected the letter but took a moment to read it and talk with a young woman who handed it to him.

"The president enjoyed a visit with the students, accepted the letter and upon reading it let the student know that the United States does not torture and that we value human rights," deputy press secretary Dana Perino said.

I'll bet those students got no milk and cookies at the end of the tour ;) But, as concerned Americans, you gotta hand it to them for taking the opportunity and initiative to voice their concerns. (I just wonder which teacher gave them extra credit for doing it!)

I bet parents and teachers were the ones pushing this...all the more reason my kid will go to private school where she can get a good education, away from the politics and other bad things associated with public schools.

I don't think you guys are giving high school seniors enough credit for being in a developing stage of social awareness.

Now if it was 5th graders, we could probably blame the teacher.

@d16man, I agree about the other bad things in public schools. Like people of different economic and social backgrounds, mixed religions, and a more liberal curriculum. No way we want our kids getting that much life exposure before college.

I went to both. One is for learning, the other is where you learn.

Interesting teachers are still pushing their personal agendas without anything to substantiate. The last torture I read about was AGS' buds in Iraq, when AGS didn't want to say a single bad word about them. Ironically, he had no problem posting in this thread.

Things that make ya go hmmmm...

He wouldn't say a bad word, one. Now, if a Jew farted in a bistro, he'd be up in arms with outrage and say it was the CIA trying to use new top secret "butt air" to kill muslims.

    He can't. It's all he's got. :p

If you say anything bad about the corrupt US administration then you are a terrorist supporter. Utter utter nonsense way of thinking but that is how badly he has been brainwashed by people like O'Reilly and other chumps.

AGS, aren't you the one who compared Hamas favorably to O'Reilly? You find shooting people in the back of the head, using kids as bombs and civil war roughly the same as expressing an opinion on TV?

Clearly. O'reilly, who talks on TV, is far worse than people who kill children, blow up busses, and are -actual- terrorists. No argument there.

Again and as usual you miss the point. O'Reilly is the controlled mainstream media's biggest supporter of the terrorist George W Bush who's lies have killed thousands upon thousands of innocent Iraqi civilians, that makes O'Reilly equally as bad as Hamas mate.

Sure does! Expressing an opinion is roughly the same as blowing up civilians. Why do you keep repeating yourself? Your point is quite clear.

AGS, they just do not want to see what you are saying, so they will never understand you or try to pretend not to understand you :)

lorien, ever heard of ideological war ? Totalitarism, communism , all based on that. So why do you try not to spot it ? In simple words: push it to the masses. That's far more dangerous than blowing up a bus ;)
