I'm thinking of starting a student organization at my current college. I was thinking of doing a club on what interests me, web development. I wouldn't say I'm fluent in any programming languages such as PHP or .Net but I have a genuine interest in all web related matters (design, cost, blogging, new technologies, user-friendly, ect).

I was wondering, if you were to join my "new club", what would you expect to happen at each weekly meeting? I'm considering starting this club, but I'm really not sure how I can get people of all skill levels interested. I also don't know how I can connect with the new members. If you have any experience going to web developing lectures or even have been in a web development club Id really like to hear about your experience!

Maybe you could have weekly contests like "Design a calculator in Java, implement it into a 2 column css layout, etc". Then give out prizes ontop of it, or just do it for fun. Have "code-athons" where you all get pizza and have 2 hours to code something. ETC ETC

You could host development workshops for novice programmers or set programming challenges for experienced persons.
