Guys, I have been optimizing my blog for Google for a keyword that has monthly searches (exact) of 6800. The keyword is quite competitive and I have been working hard to get to the first page.
The situation is following: I got on second page to the 4th position a week ago, but suddenly fell to 8th position and after that can not move up. I continually add new backlinks and periodically articles as well.

Could you give me an advise what to do to get to first page? Any suggestions?

Maybe your backilinks is not enough and you said above^ that your keywords is very competitive, I think that's the reason why you stuck on your SERP. I suggest you to keep on adding links as many as possible through your keywords.

Thanks for reply. I noticed that sites above may site have 12000 backlinks. Do you mean I should have 12,000 backlinks to go up in SERP?

Have quality backlinks is what counts the most. Quality beats quantity any time. Try to get links from authority sites that are about 5 years old or so. They are the most reputable to Google I believe.

    yes..thats it
Additionally, emphasize on having that keyword as anchor text in the backlinks that u'll build in nearer future:)
also check the keyword density for that particular keyword in ur content..make it 5-6%

Keep adding quality backlinks. Try to add your anchor texts to more than your index page to increase your visibilty. Verify your site with google webmaster tools, it seems to help, by the way did I say keep ading quality backlinks.
