Stuck with PR3-PR4, what should I do to get PR1?

    Hello,

I have a quite busy forum regarding the target audience http://www.mythtvtalk.com.

The forum is now almost 2 years old and I have a PR3-PR4 index for over a year now, but I can't manage to increase this PR to PR1 or PR2...

Do you have any idea of what I could try to do in order to improve it? I'm starting to be clueless on what to do now :(

    Second question:
My forum is at http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/ and this URL gets a PR4 while http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/index.php gets a PR3. Since the page been displayed at these urls is the same (the forum index), is there a way to make http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/ become a PR3 as the index.php is one??

Thanks in advance for any tips/advice.

    Regards,
    Ludovic

The higher the PR the better. So PR4 is better than PR1. :)

(if we are talking google pagerank)

I guarantee if you place a bunch of outbound links to my sites, we can get your PR lower :D

    Do you mean PR10??!!

PR1 is much lower than PR3 or PR4. If you really want a PR1 though, simply do a "link:" search for your site and then email all webmasters who link to you and convince them to remove your links. Simple! :D

Erm... so I misunderstood the PR concept for over a year now...

    /me should wake up..................................

so basically, PR1 is bad while PR10 is the best? right?

Yes, and remember it's a logaritmic scale. If you have 10 links in now, 10 more wont make you a PR8.

There are only a handful domains with PR10, without owning a huge corporation it's basiclly impossible to get.

I think you guys all missed the man's point

    his link www.sitename.com/index.php has a PR4
    his link www.sitename.com has a PR 0

So the PR is tied directly to the index.php

Now he wants to pass this rank to the pures ite name WITHOUT index.php

The answer is NO, you can't just pass it.

The way to fix it for future reference is to point all your possibles to your site
    look at our example
    http://webtradetalk.com
    http://webtradetalk.com/index.php
    http://www.webtradetalk.com/index.php

    all point to http://www.webtradetalk.com

I know how to point http://mythtvtalk.com/ to http://www.mythtvtalk.com using .htaccess
but how can you point http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/index.php to http://www.mythtvtalk.com/forum/ ??? Is it possible to do that through .htaccess too??

    Thanks in advance.
