    Need advice..

Im stuck on on Googles page two for my keywords.
    Im usually #12 or #13.

I cant seem to break in to the top 10.

Whats the #1 thing I should do here? I think my site is keyword rich.

Do I need more high PR backlinks or maybe just more backlinks?

Just cant break in to the top 10.

    Thanks

This can be the most difficult part of seo. In getting to page two you were primarily passing websites that weren't optimized for your keyword(s). Now you have to deal with websites who have your keyword in a lot of their links and in key locations on their pages. These first page websites are your true competition.

You will need more quality backlinks. Ideally these would be from relevant high PR websites that are trusted by Google. Those kind of links can be hard to get though. Instead you may be able to get to the first page with enough lower quality links. Make sure you don't get too many links all at once though. Also make sure your links use your keywords in the anchor text and vary the anchor text to make it look natural.

For some ideas you may want to see where those first page websites all got their links from.

Just don't try to push through with low quality links from bad neighborhood and link farms. If anything, be patient and add bookmarks and article links slowly over a few weeks/months. Study what gets popular at the bigger social bookmarking sites and write something with that theme and hope it gets picked up by a few bloggers who link back to you.

The sites that are on page one have also probably been around for a while so don't burn out your ranking with impatience (I think I've done this a few times).

Focus on the higher quality links from related websites - and preferably ones with high domain page-rank (PR5 or more).

The competitiveness of the keyword / phrase has a lot to do with how you have to rank for it, how much pagerank you'll need - etc...

Why don't you analyze your competitor? Study why/how they rank well compare to your site and research where they get their links would be a good strategy for your site to overcome them in search results. :D

It is much easier to jump from page 10 to 2 but its much harder to jump from page 2 to page 1. you need more quality links and more time.

Better stay at #12 (top) than #10 (bottom).

Better at #12 then at #10?? Sorry but that's lousy advice. What if the websites in position #10 and #11 have the same kind of products? You could lose sales to them. You would be getting less traffic at #12 than at #10.

Oh really? Ever heard of users NOT clicking results bellow middle of pages? Say, #6 to bottom? So better stay at #12 at top, than at #10 at bottom.

You get more traffic at #12 rather than #10. Trust me.

While jumping up and down from #13 to #10 in 3 years, guess i have learn from experience.

Anyway, do you really believe that was an advice? :p Jesus man, you need to wake up to reality: so now we manage to stay at chosen rankings? I say "get your site at #10 and stay there" and suddenly it happens? lololol That was a comment man.

It was a pretty unhelpful comment. I have dealt with a lot of sites ranking at the bottom of page one and the top of page 2 too. #12 DOES NOT get more traffic than #10. You're just full of bs. I was reading another of your threads talking about your websites all losing their ranking...no wonder if you believe #12 is better than #10.

I'd like to meet the moron web surfer who chooses to ignore results # 6 - #10 only to click on #11 & #12.

Go pull some more bs stats out of your ass.

Gee man, you're a genius. And you can read threads also? Cool. Why don't you read what i wrote above? Not an advice (and even if it was an advice) how that user would implement it? It was a comment. A damn comment.

Now, my sites. A little offtopic here. First and last one with you. 5 authority sites lost their #1 ranks and gone all of them, all queries, to 5th page. Since you're the man, let me know what the hell happened there. Cause till today not one living soul that had the pleasure to check them personally has a clue to what happened. That happened same day/night some G datacenters went bananas at October 28th. But i guess you know everything about that too.

Now the bullshit. Who the hell are you? Do i know you? I can answer that. No. So, no offense but you're buying a fight with the wrong guy.

Whether it was advice or a comment is not important. I just don't agree with it. I'll accept that you have your opinion, but I'd like to see facts to back up such a statement. Logic says that if someone is willing to click onto the 2nd page, most of the time they have at least scanned each of the results on page 1. In some instances I could see a site getting missed among the competition at #8 - 10. Perhaps the page title is too similar to some of those sites or blends in some other way. Still most of the time #12 would not get more clicks than #10.

PM me the urls of your sites. I would be willing to check them out. I have some sites penalized down to 5th page too, so I can see if they have anything in common.

As to your fight comments...nothing personal, just don't want people taking such a comment as fact.

    Well....
    I jumped.
I am now holding #9 and #10. Hope to camp here for a while.

I can tell you I would much rather be on Page 1 than Page 2.. No doubt. Especially for my keywords.

    cool games anyone? :)

I would recommend IBP to break into the top 10 after that it's mostly about good incoming anchor links from any site, if you don't want to piss google off in any poing make sure they are only coming from relevant ones...

    Good luck
