Stuck between "the" and .in

I am going to register my new blog domain. But the .com version is not available since its registered by someone else and is left empty by saying site under maintenance for last few months.

Then i thought of going for .in version but someone told me i will be out ranked out side India for that domain to other sites with .com domain.

So what i should prefer ? "the" or ".in"

Try .net or .org or use some variation on your chosen name.

add the word 'blog' at the end of the domain name and register .com
    or
take the help of domain name suggestion while registering the domain. e.g. check abcd.com if it is taken then website of registrar will suggest lternative names.

    Good luck

Based on your question i prefer "the" but the following letter should be consonant for better phonetic pronunciation.

TLD's really depend on your localisation, if your market is in india then a .in would be appropriate and probably prefered by the "locals" if your market is more global then a .com, .net or some of the "cool" new gTLD's (Here is a list of the new TLD's ), It all depends on what kind of website you are building.
