Hello, I have a fairly new blog, I started it only last week, and I'm receiving about 100 visitors a day already (low I know but it's only been a week!) the SEO I've done so far seems to be working OK. The trouble I'm having is a very, very low adsense CTR. I've just modified the 'full post' page to show a large adsense rectangle (where previously there was a button). You all sound like an experienced bunch, so I was wondering if I could tap you up for some tips regarding colour, placement and ad selection. I'm very new to this - and I fear that anything I might try would be fumbling in the dark. I'm also concerned that I don't want to make the site look spammy. Here it is: http://www.matales.com/ many thanks! - rich PS: This is my first post so am not allowed to use vB code - sorry!
The box in the sidebar to the right seems to blend well. You probably might want to change the small box on the content area to a horizontal content banner or a link unit.
id be tempted to lose the one at the top on the left and replace it with a larger horizontal one under the first 'leave a comment' before the second post.
Thanks Vizuke! Do you mean on the home page? The single post pages are a little bit different.... What do you think about the colors? I was wondering if I should change the orange URLs to a more link-like blue? cheers!
I think your placements and colors look good. I wonder how you define a very low CTR though. Either way the best thing to do is experiment with placements and colors over time. One week is not very long to really gauge what your CTR might be.
Thanks Nitro - I'll need to stretch my wordpress templating skills to figure that one out - but that's a good thing! And RDV, I take your comments onboard - guess I should come up with a methodology for sampling CTR for different colours, placements etc. Will report back in time and let you know how I go.... thanks muchly guys.
