if its traffic your after then yeah, myspace layouts, images , wallpapers etc sites work well as the same people who want to get a layout will probably also want a wallpaper. That way a link from a similar themed area gives you a) targeted visitors b) an on theme link for google c) pr boost to get you to PR4/5 where you can start link exchanging with other similar sites.

the only downside to this is the CPM of these type of sites isn't great.

I won't put two big google AD blocks if I want to keep my visitor.
Next to that... the img you have is kinda ... well... frankly... I might not visit it again...
We all know that return visitors are very important...

Don't expect too much traffic from directory... to be... they are only good for one reason and I started to think it is not even worth that so I quit submit to directory weeks ago.

Try to get links from relative sites. I know it's not easy but it's much more valuable not only on google's side as well as bring traffic.

It's kind of like offering oranges to people that want apples. Ain't going to work or you'll get a few... Fine out what people want and offer it to them. The traffic will come.

But, you're off to a good start by being in a forum with links to your site/s.

improve your contents with your targeted keywords...create a very good title that has your target keywords...make your contents unique, valuable and of quality so visitors may link back to you...improve your link popularity...use your targeted keywords as your anchor text...publicize your site....

I was just experimenting with the ads. I had 1 300x250 image ad there before which didnt do too good :( so I was trying text ads {spammer style} as I have seen that done on some sites and was curious if it brought any additional revenue in.

Of the 500+ directories you submitted to, how many of them actually entered a link for your site? Just because you submit it doesn't always guarantee they will link you...

Some people also think that for visitors, stumble exchange sites help to get things started, if your website is interesting to the stumblers, you might start a chain of traffic. I've tried out both stumblexchange.com and avuw.com but prefer the latter.

I think you should use a combo. Good content, post articles, submit to dirs, link bait, social bookmark, onpage seo, stumble, etc.

Why not do something creative. For instance your wallpaper site. Instead of spending $200 to advertise, buy links etc. Have a contest. Pay $200 plus a free copy of Photoshop gadgets something or another. (work with me here). Have the contest be a popularity contest, the more votes they get from unique MySpace users they win.

It's just the rough sketch of an idea. But, this would give you something to work off of, that would allow you to reach out to other sites in your niche with some cool PR releases. Get the blogger community involved, forums, PR Releases, articles you could submit to the article directories, etc.

Just some rough ideas right before I head to bed. Don't know if it's feasible, but it might be.

Honestly I find wallpapers are extremely easy to rank for. In fact I don't even promote mine, since I am getting way too many leechers as it is ;)

personally I do not have a clue where to get traffic from.

BTW why dont u just turn off hotlinking then they cant steal your bandwidth?

I get plenty of visitors with adwords 1c a visitor but its just not worth it in the long run.

How do you obtain the visitors to begin with?

I highly recommend using www.receivelinks.com to increase your SERPs, traffic and the all-not-important-except-for-ego Pagerank.
