I have a strong pr4 domain in the music blog market going through a transition period. It was a software as a service, but now its just a kinda s p a m m y blog. It ranks good for long tail keywords I target and does on average 6,000 absolute unique visits per month according to google analytics. The site makes about $20.00 a month in adsense revenue. Should this site be making me more money? I feel it should. I'm wondering what type of commission / affiliate programs would work out for this. Basically I guess I am just looking for advice. Help is very much appreciated.
thanks bowo84, you can see I am learning. Great idea and I will definitely do that! Keep them coming. I am really interested in monetizing off of affiliate programs but don't know where to start for my music blog.
If you want to put more work into it I'd start a optin list. Music should be a good optin site to work with.
http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=22 you can start to fine information on that it's more specific
As for affiliate products, ask yourself, what are the various categories of visitors coming to my blog and what are they looking for? Then ask yourself what would these visitors be interested in buying. Say, most people come to your blog looking for advice on how to play guitar. You put guitar learning related products/books on your site.
Very important to understand your niche! Then target the specific market. Win the crowed and you will have your freedom!
If you are targeting adsense, sell the site and create a niche site... music will not do good with adsense...end of story...
It is pretty obvious that long tail keywords will not do good. So i think it is time you target best and easy competition keyword and rank them. As you have a PR 4 domain i dont think ranking would be so hard for you.
