A potentially destructive 6.0 magnitude earthquake has hit Sichuan province in China, according to US monitors. The US Geological Survey said the quake struck at 10.49 Irish time. The earthquake was centered 30 miles north-northwest of Guangyuan, China, at a depth of 6.2 miles, USGS said. A shallow quake of that magnitude is capable of significant property damage. The Olympic torch is being carried through the area today, where at least 70,000 died during a massive earthquake in May.
I heard about this in the news yesterday, it is so sad when they have just start to recover from the one in May.
It seems to be hitting China so often these days. The government should be ready if in case another stronger earthquake follows.
6.0 is not much that strong but anything in the range of 6.5 and more is dangerous In richter scale ,7 is more than 10 times powerful than 6!
