Hello, I have plan to make a website that streams live sports. I wonder if this is allowed in wp? I will not host all the videos I will just embed it from ustream or justin tv.
I don't know about streaming videos but i have seen many wordpress sites embedding videos from youtube and other sites so I can guess using live stream wont be a problem
Yes you will need simple wordpress plugin to embed the code from ustream or justin....Simple google search reveal this plugin for ustream http://www.pcmech.com/wp_plugins/wpustream.zip Do the same search for justin.tv and you are done.
Hmm I've ask this because I have a website in blogger that streams live sports then one time Blogger Team e-mail me to say that there was a complaint about DMCA which is an illegal streaming of videos on my blogger website and they told me to remove it. Then one time I checked my blog and I'm surprised that it is already deleted. Blogger team told me that they need to delete it because they are the one who will be sue by a certain broadcasting company if they will not delete my website. Well I'm surprised because in the first place I'm not the one who are hosting the live feeds of that certain sports event I'm just embedding it on justin tv and ustream, blogger should have told that to that certain broadcasting company. What do you think guys? I don't want to waste my time again making a website aand WP will just delete it for that reason.
wordpress sites embedding videos from youtube and other sites so I think you should add some plugin for it, it'll work smooth and even without any error message. (many plugins are available for this, check reviews and download for yours|).
I know that you can add videos from Youtube or other video sharing websites to MySpace, but I don't know if this can be done in WordPress. I would think it would depend on the content. It shouldn't really matter if you are hosting it on your own domain though, should it?
I am sure that WP will allow streaming video. There is even lots of plugins for it. I checked into it a little more and Wordtube is a popular streaming video WP plugin, supports .flv and .swf files. There is a support forum for it on the wordpress(dot)org/tags/wordtube page. There isn't a whole lot of support out there for streaming video in WordPress. So if you do start installing the plugin and have problems you might be on your own. Check it out: en(dot)wordpress(dot)com/tag/video-streaming/ All the plugins for streaming video. Hope this helps. You may have some hosting issues or you may not depending on your set up.
My website is very well known in this certain sport and evertime there are games I always getting 150,000+ page view everyday. I know that my website is under the radar of this broadcasting companies and they always e-mail me about this DMCA thing which is I'm not cover because I'm not under the US jurisdiction. So instead of contacting me regarding DMCA they always go directly to my web host provider and this companies are threatening them that they will sue them if they will not delete my website( Just like what happened to my website in blogger ). Well like what I said it's not me who's hosting this live feeds I'm just embedding it on my website. Why not these companies go directly to Justin TV or Ustream and complain about this illegal streaming of videos because their servers are the one who's is hosting it. Well becuase of risk that wp will delete it also I decided to make my own website and host it on a web hosting provider that is outside the US so that DMCA will not take effect since it's outside the US jurisdiction. I also ask this host provider if is it legal with them and they said it's alright as long as I will not the one who will host these videos. Thanks for all the replies!
