I am an online publisher and we produce our own videos. We are using youtube as our platform without monetization enabled but I have three reasons to go a step above to a paid for video hosting platform. 1. I need to implement be able to serve vast and vapid for a larger campaign later this year. 2. The UI of youtube is starting to suck more and more. Its the new IE. 3. Often we pay license fees on music and youtube ads their ads on top and flags us for DRM. Its then a hassle for us to get rid of that. Too much automation and not enough human account support. Videos get an easy 20k views within 7 days often a lot more. Last 30 days: 250k views, 500k minutes watched. I have reached out to some of the larger well known video streaming hosts and I am getting proposals tailored based on my current youtube usage. What I need to know is what dollar amount can a single video produce. I know its an answer that can not be answered with one sentence. What I need to know is can a video ad network pay for me to afford a premium video hosting provider? We sell conventional banner ads directly all day long and fall back to ad networks like adsense (plus some others) for unsold inventory. I would like to apply the same model to our videos. Is it profitable yes or no? --- We are in the motorsports news reporting genre.
