Hello. Would it be ok to give a 15-20 second sample preview of a song? It would stream from a flash player would not be available for download. I have googled for a few hours and I can't really find any topics about it. Say, for a music review site. Included with the review was a small snippet of the song to give the readers an idea of what it sounds like? I know they are huge, but sites like amazon and iTunes offer samples of songs. So do other retailers. Do the retailers have to aquire a license to play a sample of a song? Do you think this would be an issue at all? If it would be an issue is there a license I could aquire? If anyone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it.
i often wonder this too, but i think it would all depend on the individual song and artist. if you made a game which u was gonna sell then i stole the first 4 levels of it for people to play, would u see it as theft or advertising?
If you bought it then gave it away, then that's piracy..........But if it is a demo with the 4 levels, then its ok.. No?
You should have no problems if you don't stream the whole song ... However, it may be worth it to check this site: http://www.ascap.com/weblicense/ I think you may fit onto that category
