I think Haggis is defiantely the worst one in Scotland, all the bits of an animal that are too good to turn into glue, minced up with oats and boiled in a sheeps stomach. In second place is black pudding pigs blood mixrd with oats and fried.
Well there is a bulgarian sauce which goes with this dish.It is called Liutenitza and it is almost like ketchup but it is homemade and it has a great taste. We put red pepers in it which makes the taste very different from the ketchup. It is very good and you can eat it with everything. Here's a picture
Weird and normal food, interesting topic....I don't think that most people that live in a culture, can say what the weirdest food is, because to them, it isn't weird, it's normal. Ask a traveler sometime after they come back from a different country, then you can get some honest answers. As far as my opinion goes, not really anything here in the U.S. is odd, just region specific (grits, bologna, hotdogs, chicken nuggets ( they are chicken parts after all). Weird to most is based on a gross out factor. I would have to rank Hagas from Ireland as one of the strangest though .
I'm Russian but I live in Hungary for quite a long time and here they have lot's of crazy stuff like zsiros kenyer for example which is basically bread with onion and fat....
That's a cool opinion! I just posted about the Hungarian food but I'm not Hungarian. Just happen to live in Budapest.
In Sweden, some people have the pleasure of eat sheep's brain. It's a delicacy served at some more exclusive festvities. I think it's totally discusting. Everybody eat blood pudding though, with sweet lingonberry.
Fried Mice meat, Guangdong, China. Just heard the name of the dish it really had made me uncomfortable.
Isn't DP banned in China because we talk about democracy & stuff ? Anyway the stangest food I've seen made in my country is canned pizza . WTF ?
Pig brains dipped in egg and fried. I know it sounds gross, but it's actually good. Haven't had it in a while though..
Something like chitterling or black pudding I suppose, but yes marmite isvery weird when you think about it!
