Strange Wordpress Problem Please Help

Having an issue with a wordpress site I built. I have had this issue before and it usually goes away when I clear my browser cache but not this time.

Using WP 3.0.4 with permalinks set to - Day and name format

The issue is I have links in my menu and when I click on them using Google Chrome it doesn't take me to the page. It actually downloads a file to my PC called "download" . The file itself is empty and has no file format like .txt or .html . It does this for any link I click in the menu. When I try the site in Firefox it works ok but occasionally I will get a black page with just the url for the page I should be on listed at the top of the page. When I refresh the page it takes me to the actual page.

Very strange. Not sure if it's a wordpress issue or a browser/pc issue.

Anyone else seen this before and know what the problem is?

    Thanks

May be it's limited to your system/ browser? Did you check with another system? May be, post the link here so others can test on their system?

I've actually seen this before when embedding a video and instead of it showing on the page and playing, it would prompt you to download it. The problem was a duplicate piece of code next to each other. However if it's just doing this in Google Chrome, it might just be a cross browser issue. If it's not doing this in IE or Firefox, my guess is that it is Google Chrome. I have a guy that does all my PHP cross browser stuff and we find there is a lot more issues making the pages viewable in Google Chrome than the other two browsers. Check the URL in Google Chrome and clear your cookies/cache and check it again.

    Good luck

Sounds more like the web server doesn't know how to deal with the file format, and so downloads it instead of displaying it.

Site is HERE every time I click on one of the menu links it downloads a file called downloads. When I use www.hidemyass.com proxy to view the site it works fine. Used CCleaner to clean out temp files. This is driving me nuts.

Well he said Firefox would handle it correctly, only occasionally failing. That rules out the server being the issue.

Also, I just viewed it in Google Chrome, it worked perfectly. It really looks like an issue with your browser.
