Strange Supplemental vs. Regular result sets

    Hey everyone,

For some reason Google recently dropped a large portion of mediumlow - mediumhigh (PR 3-5) pages from my site a few days ago. I noticed a slight drop in traffic and every day since, Google has been returning weird results for site:mysite.com.

Anyhow, for example, the site had 1.5 million pages indexed and then dropped to 300,000. It climbed back to 450,000 the other day, 670,000 yesterday and today its returning 958,000 pages.

So today I'm playing around with the site: command and I try site:mysite.com. This returns 958k. Then I try site:mysite.com * -- and I'm getting only Supplemental Results.. no regular results to be found.

Within the supplemental results, I'm mostly seeing old pages which have been 301'd.. and they are still correctly redirecting to their non-supplemental new urls.

Some strange observations over the past few days, indeed.

By the way.. is ,,site:yoursite.com *'' with the asterick the secret command for searching within supplementals? ;)
