Strange statistical constation

    Hello,

A few years ago I started a niche webside describing more than 5000 products in that niche. Every product has its own page, named after that product. I have about 2000 unique visitors a day, most of them, if not all coming directly to one of those specific product pages via search engines - mainly Google.
Or about a year ago I noticed a strange thing: I only get visitors on pages with products starting with A, B, C or D.
The homepage was just a list with links. As I read here and in other forums that Google only accepts a maximum number of links per page (500? 1000?,...) I split up that page in about 50 subpages, thus with lesser links on each subpage.
And still... even now, almost a year later, I only get visitors in the A-D range. Statistically this absolutely makes no sens of course, there MUST be a logical reason for that, but I really have no clue.
    Any ideas/suggestions
