Strange SERP ranking after penguin

Before penguin update, my site ranked first on SERP. After the update, it kept sliding but still remained on the first page. Then after some posts and updates on the site, it regained its first spot. I was pretty surprised that this was happening.

Then I added a couple of posts with the most unique content I could come up with, but now the my site is nowhere to be found on the first page itself. I dont know what happened all of a sudden. What did I do wrong?

Is it a new site? you maybe sandboxed. There is no known way to get out of this other then keep doing what you doing, keep building good links and update contents. However, if you do get out of this, your site will usually be stronger

My site is about 2 years old. I made some backlinks before the Penguin update. None after the update though.

Hmm, it seems that you hv been attacked by Google Panda and Penguin, you just need to remove irrelevant and duplicate posts from your blog and build some quality backlinks and you will regain your ranking soon.

It might not have happened all of a sudden - have a good look to see if there is anything you may have done 'incorrectly' and just keep on focusing on the organic route and you'll be fine in no time :)

Sometimes you see search engine result changes for a short time span which are not permanent. How long you find your website at top of search engine results?
