Strange SERP Activity

It started last friday / sat/ sun / monday

My website, was going from its page 1 positions to disapearing. After monday last week it settled again, and I was back in top spots. Traffic & sales increased again. Last night around 9pm, i dropped again, 9am this morning back up again.

Anyway elese noticing strange SERP Activitiy?

I am just keeping fingers crossed I dont lost my top spots

 

my website dropped 5 days ago and still nothing in serp ;(

it's 2 years old with ~9-10k daily visitors (60% from G)

 

Yea, mine has dropped as well. Not sure why this is happening?

 

I believe google are in the progress of making some SERP updates and also I believe there is maybe some algo changes going on, i go from top 5 spots to no where. Just hoping when it all settles i stay where I am

they dont half like scraing us website owners

 

How old is your website?

If your site is a new, then you will see lot of ups and downs in SERPs. You will have to get some solid backlinks, in order to get a stable position in SERPs.

 

my website is 5 year old, we have nearly 1k backlinks, and we have some very competitive high SERPS positions

 

That is quite correct. Solid links and strong one way backlinks that will remain intact for a long time can be great. The number of links might not be that important but the quality of them is.

 

yeah I do understand the whole Linking building strategy, yes i do have some crap links that I got right back at the start, when I was learning but i do have some good links, and have got my website in top 10 positions for some VERY competitive keywords with 13million + results, so must have done something right to get me there, just need to figure out what I have maybe done that they dont like, and just continue to look and get less links but higher quality links

 

Funny thing, just saw my site leap up into first page for the keyword "serp" on Google. Anyone can confirm it? My SERP site at my siggy.
Anything to do with this SERP activity?

 

Very strange indeed. How old is your site? How long did you have position 1?

 

I just saw it at the 17 spot.

 

did it again and it jumped to 12, so you've got some decent movement there.

 

Sounds odd I've never experienced this.

 

Google might be on the process of changing it's algo.

 

Me too, got a similar problem, my site is 2 years old with over 8k backlinks

What DC are you on though? Using US DC I am still in the top 10 for google.com

 

its getting even stranger now, yesterday morning I was dropped again, then back again all day yesterday and night, getting some really good traffic, then this morning been dropped again, traffic has dropped away

this is a total nightmare, dont know what google are up to
