I have a strange problem that I just have no explanation for. I posted about this a while back, but I have a screen shot of my stats that shows my keyword traffic dropped in HALF, literally overnight with Google. The strange part is, all of my keyword rankings are the same as they've been for months. I haven't changed any of my SEO, other continuing to create backlinks here and there. Any guesses as to an explanation for this. Here's the screenshot. My Statistics Screen Shot You can see on Aug 20th, all of those keywords dropped in half. Before Aug 21st, 89.9% of my sites total traffic was from Search Engines. My traffic is now below 50% organic search engine traffic, and I don't know where to look for the problem. My site is a game site. There's no reason the number of searches for my keywords would drop in half overnight. I'm stumped.
lolz this is called RUN OUT and not stumper your site was running and all of a sudden you got out .................. not the problem in your website is your SEO whom you say u have hired have made some false backlinks which might have been deleted or some other website have hired a smarter SEO than yours and the traffic which should come 2 your website is going there
This is strange..only suggestion from my side is to keep writing unique and useful content and focus more on link building
I'm sorry, I'm having a difficult time understanding, but I think you're saying that maybe I lost backlinks somewhere...correct? I actually have increased my backlinks, consistently over the past months..nothing crazy, probably a couple hundred a month at most. I'm sure that can't be the issue. Remember, I said that my keyword positions are still all in the top 5...as they have been.
Could it be possible that people are losing interest in that particular niche (like in a trend) and therefore less search volume for it. Why not you head over to googles external tools and compare how much the search volume is like with past months' figure. That will give a good indication.
Another thing that may have happened is that the competition improved without overtaking you in the rankings. Perhaps one of the websites ranking above you either: redesigned their website, offered a better fishing game, improved their site title & meta description or did some other website tweak that kept people from checking results further down in the rankings. People are only going to check out the #3, 4 or 5 website if they don't see what they want on the first 1 or 2 sites. Another possibility is that the PPC ads improved or increased in volume for those keywords. Beyond that some other causes could be: ranking drops on other data centers, ranking drops on other country's version of Google, server performance issues, browser compatibility issues, etc. Did you change anything at all within a week or two of August 20th? I recommend you take a good long look at your stats. Examine every variable possible to see if other things also happened to drastically change such as the bounce rate, time on site, traffic from certain keywords, traffic from certain search engines, traffic from certain countries, etc.
Sounds like your keywords have lost their popularity. That sort of drop off shows me that you had a time sensitive niche and that time has come and passed!
I checked the 8 month trend on my keywords and they're stead as a rock. It's not the game site in my signature, but another niche game site that I've had for about a year. I checked 30 Google data centers, and the SERP's are almost identical on all data centers. It's not a time sensitive niche. There is one keyword phrase that is one of my most popular that looks like it slipped from the 5 spot to 7. I just can't see how that would cut my traffic in half. I guess I'll try to get that one back in the top 5 and see what happens.
