Hi, I am getting some strange searches when I am viewing my stats to a few of my websites. My sites are niche, but some of them are getting various one words search words at certain times of the day from MSN. I am talking a few odd ones here, such as 'brown', 'relief', and 'georgie' are to name a few, and these search terms have nothing in common with my websites. Can anyone shed any light on why this is happening? Cheers TD
How are you determining the "search phrases"? Are you examining the referring URL specifically, or are you relying on your web stats utility to parse that for you? It's possible that, what you interpret as "one word searches" are not the complete search and the tool extracting the phrase is not doing it correctly for some instances of referrers.
We get those all the time in our site awstats, I haven't been able to find out exactly what they are.
I think your right, the stats package seems to be pulling just one of the words from a search string, probably the first word only. 'Multi' could be the multi coloured product I have on my site. I also have different coloured products so thats where the 'brown' and 'yellow' searches I got came from. All searches are coming from live.com I dont usually try to rank for MSN so it took me a bit by surprise really Thanks for clearing that up. TD
I have some problem. keyword: webdesign Http Code: 301 Date: Mar 18 16:24:14 Http Version: HTTP/1.0 Size in Bytes: 333 Referer: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?q=webdesign and others one word keywords, looks like top10, but not exist in live.com Very often ip host comes from Microsoft Corp.
