Almost daily I see a keyword in Google Analytics for my site using the ( site: ) operator (example site:www.mysite.com) and with a lot of page views (sometimes 20, 16, etc).

Does this happen to you? and why would ordinary users do that?

Maybe someone is checking out your site? I get it all the time on several of my sites, and I'm pretty sure it's one of my competitors!

It's probably the competition exploring your site ;)

ordinary users wouldn't do that! But Google Analytics is all messed up, don't you use any other stat counter? Real time ones like statcounter.com?

It means that many people are using the "[ More results from yousitename.tld ]" option available under your site in the SERP. For example a search for "digital point" has the option "[ More results from forums.digitalpoint.com ]" under the second result. Which performs a google search for site:forums.digitalpoint.com
