Hi All I wanted to check to see if Google had indexed my site page for the movie 'All About Eve'. A strange thing happens when I do the following search: site:http://www.hollywoodsgoldenage.com/movies/eve.html The result is headed 'download movies' and is followed by an ad for Adobe Creative Suite, instead of the description I wrote about the movie. But the URL is the correct one. I've checked my server and my original movie description is still there, nothing about Adobe. Can anyone shed any light on this please? Many thanks, gunsock
You have to use cache: instead of site: The site: command will be used to check total index pages under a domain. However, I have not seen you pages cached and still wonder why adobe description do appeared for your page. I have looked through source code and found nothing related to Adobe anyway.
yah that's really strange..i haven't encounter that one too.. maybe try to update the page.. change something on it..
Hah, let's see if we get to the bottom of this. Try searching for a phrase in your post: "a movie masterwork in which everything fits together perfectly" -- and you get these results: http://www.google.com/search?num=10...erything+fits+together+perfectly"&btnG=Search Note that there's no cache. Now click on "repeat search with the omitted results included," and at the bottom, below all the duplicate content, you see a page from your site, but it's the wrong page! And if you search for: site:http://www.hollywoodsgoldenage.com "Download Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium for Win Buy" "download movies" you find the page you are concerned about: http://www.google.com/search?num=10...Design+Premium+for+Win+Buy"+"download+movies" Note that there's no cache. What I think has happened that Google has indexed your pages, but due to some glitch or bug it has reshuffled the caches and they have got arranged to new URLs. My advice: Your sitemap at http://www.hollywoodsgoldenage.com/sitemap.xml is not up-to-date. For example, it does not include /movies/eve.html. Update the sitemap and resubmit it; I'd bet this will straighten everything out, just be patient.
I shall take your excellent advice PhilipSEO, that was a very helpful reply. My thanks to you and to the others who responded.
