    Who ever saw such referrers?

    "MOT-SAP4_/11.03 UP.Browser/4.1.23c (Google WAP Proxy/1.0)"
    "SonyEricssonT610/R401 Profile/MIDP-1.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.0 (Google WAP Proxy/1.0)"

Yeah, it's people using their cell phones. Google has a WAP proxy that many cell phone carriers use.

On most o2 phones in the uk, the search page takes you to a wap version of google.

Then you can search and can visit some pages, and they look ok, mainly text based - in fact i browsed these forums yesterday and although difficult at first, its quite usable

Have any of you seen enough traffic via WAP to focus on it in any way?

We had a power cut last week. Rang the power suppliers with the number on the switchboard thing but was well outdated. No power means no internet but went on google on my gprs phone. Pretty snappy stuff, reasonably quick too and pay per kb. Found the suppliers number in seconds and rang them to find out the whole block was down. Had to do without electricity for 2 hours but WAP saved us :D

Yeah It's just responding with the user agent and the proxy and version.

That's the same info (user agent) that I use in my javascript. when someone hits my page from a cell phone they're redirected to a compatible site.

Well I should say i use to have it that way. not since the redesign yet. but i'll do it again.

the problem is there are so many different agents/software/phones out now the list in my htacess is getting really big.

Why did you bumped a 3 year old thread for this simple query?
